STORY-1: My JEE Preparation Journey

I still remember the first day of my physics class….making clean and clear notes of Vector thinking that I might forget how to use them (Hahaha). As I didn't join any Coaching Classes and attended only private Tutoring which was mostly meant for Board Preparations, my prime focus was to score highest in the class tests taken in my tuition.

Alongside, I joined Allen's Test Series, though there were only 3 students (in total - one was for AIIMS test series, xD) from my center (I belong to Muzaffarnagar, the so-called crime capital of Asia). As a result of this, I could not feel the competition that was rising throughout the country. I just thought scoring high in my tuition tests is enough to get into IITs.

This all went on till class 11th came to end when Allen conducted it's All India Open Test ( a test along with the classroom program students of Allen)…My score was 25% and an AIR ~800. I was still blinded by tuition teachers who told that the level of such test series is far beyond JEE and I should focus on only what they teach. Then being curious, I went through prev. Year (2014 then) paper and found that I wasn't able to solve a single Question of Maths and only a few in the other two.

My mind was working now…I understood that I have lost half of my preparation time… I was tensed.

Now, I was angry with myself and decided that I shall leave no stone upturned from now and started the JEE Preparations for the beginning.

I made study plans, daily targets and completed books like P Bahadur, Solomon's Organic Chemistry, Tata-McGraw Hill for Maths in some chapters and DC Pandey & H C Verma twice for physics along with Bansal Classes Sheets for some topics. I will add the list of recommended books soon. I studied 12 hours a day and I took about 3-4 months to complete the whole syllabus of class 11th together with whatever was taught in by local teachers as a part of class 12th syllabus.

Now I was steady, I took my Allen Test Scores from avg. 30% ( in class 11) to an

avg. of 60% (in class 12). And mains score from 60% to 75–80%. And you know what I was automatically the topper in my tuition classes now!

Now class 12 was coming to an end and this time my Open Test score was 56% with an AIR of 56. (Yay!). I was boosted, I kept the preparation on. I didn't focus on Boards and gave only the last day for preparing them my main target was now JEE mains.

During the last 20, in the first 15 days, I did previous year papers of offline mode and in the remaining 5 days, I attempted 3 test papers daily the prev. years' Online mode type.

And one day before I just revised all the formula and slept at 9 pm sharp. And guess what I scored 271/360 in mains.

But now was the real test of JEE Advanced

I decided that I should stick to some specific books and should not be confused here and there as time is very limited. I completed the Grand Masters package by FIITJEE and in the last few days I gave 4 tests daily which increased my stamina

as well as test solving capabilities.

Always remember that it's your preparation that you show on D-Day, people always say that it's the luck factor that matters but I never believed…it is our attitude that decides the so-called Luck. Be clam.

Results:

  1. JEE MAINS: 271/360.
  2. Boards: 90.8% (Don't mind. lol.)
  3. JEE Advanced: 173/372 (AIR 1403).

Lessons:
  1. Be aware of the competition
  2. Don't blindly follow your teachers
  3. It's never to late
  4. Be Confident
  5. Take as many tests as possible during the last days
